چکیده

The objective of this research was to develop a more sustainable composite and still keep its characteristics. Fibers treated with NaOH at 5% w/w for 2 hours were incorporated into natural rubber in different proportions (0 phr, 24 36 48 phr 60 phr). mechanical properties the composites suffered changes, increasing hardness, young’s modulus decreasing tensile strength. All physical not statistically different. coloration became less dark WF60/CB0 treatment, electrical presented better resistivity increase concentration fibers composite. This presents possibility using WF production wood-rubber artifacts which do require high rolling resistance. Based on results from research, we recommended WF24/CB36 mix produce antistatic floors.

High-density Polyethylene-based Composites with Pressure-treated Wood Fibers

High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE)-based composites with alkaline copper quaternary (ACQ)and micronized copper quaternary (MCQ)treated wood fibers were manufactured through injection molding. The mechanical properties, water absorption, and biological resistance properties of the fabricated composites with different coupling treatments were investigated. Composites with ACQand MCQ-treated wood ha...

Fabrication of Wood-Rubber Composites Using Rubber Compound as a Bonding Agent Instead of Adhesives

Differing from the hot-pressing method in the manufacturing of traditional wood-rubber composites (WRCs), this study was aimed at fabricating WRCs using rubber processing to improve water resistance and mechanical properties. Three steps were used to make WRCs, namely, fiber-rubber mixing, tabletting, and the vulcanization molding process. Ninety-six WRC panels were made with wood fiber content...

Fracture Toughness of Wood and Wood Composites during Crack Propagation

The mode I fracture toughness as a function of crack length of medium density fiberboard (MDF), particle board (PB), and Douglas-fir (DF) were all measured using a new energy-based method. PB and MDF are examples of composites that develop fiber bridging during crack propagation, which causes their toughness to increase with crack length. Longitudinal cracks in DF also displayed fiber bridging ...

Does replacing coal with wood lower CO2 emissions? Dynamic lifecycle analysis of wood bioenergy

Bioenergy is booming as nations seek to cut their greenhouse gas emissions. The European Union declared biofuels to be carbon-neutral, triggering a surge in wood use. But do biofuels actually reduce emissions? A molecule of CO2 emitted today has the same impact on radiative forcing whether it came from coal or biomass. Biofuels can only reduce atmospheric CO2 over time through post-harvest incr...

Aspen SUCROSE TRANSPORTER3 allocates carbon into wood fibers.

Wood formation in trees requires carbon import from the photosynthetic tissues. In several tree species, including Populus species, the majority of this carbon is derived from sucrose (Suc) transported in the phloem. The mechanism of radial Suc transport from phloem to developing wood is not well understood. We investigated the role of active Suc transport during secondary cell wall formation i...
